Eventually I want an SLR as well. I want to have a nice full manual camera, and then this one which I will use every day since it's easy to carry.

The other thing is that the extra megapixels can act as extra zoom. Basically I require my camera to be small enough to carry, and as such 3x is the zoom level that is available on most cameras. But this takes such frigging huge pictures, I can practically triple that zoom level just with image resolution

Also, it has a Zeiss lens. Awesome.

The thing lists for $349, I got the guy at Circuit City to give it to me for $300. Basically sony was able to fit the new 13.6MP chip (just came out) into their cybershot casing that they use with their 7 MP (and one other I think) camera... I think that's why the cost stayed down. This camera is a STEAL even at the MSRP IMHO.

That's a waste of an SLR IMHO.

This camera has manual mode and for taking non-time-sensitive shots I will certainly take advantage of it.

Thanks dude! I was able to take a few quick pictures at lunch today and am very happy with this thing. It friggin rocks and has TONS of features. I love Sony, my family and I have always bought their electronics whenever they were an option.

Thanks. nice. Yeah basically I can zoom in 3x and then use the resolution to get an image of her getting out of the shower haha.

Here's a few from lunch. I bet I'll have more soon, I want to mess around with this thing a lot.

View from my office (Boston FTW!):

The little courtyard outside my office (mech eng building, on the right):

Flower under the tree above... very happy with the way this came out considering it was in the shade:

Also, the stabilization on this thing is REALLY fucking good. I've never used a camera that the image stabilizer worked so good on.
The landscape shots are good, but the flower one is just okay. But for that price, it takes some really good shots.

I don't think "price of the camera" comes into play.... It's kinda like what a friend of mine had said before... "Just because you buy an expensive guitar doesn't make you jimmi fucking hendrix."

Just my $0.02

It's price vs. quality of the pics. And for what he paid, the pics are awesome.

That's a pretty good deal. Have you priced the lense seperately to see if you're getting a deal for $230 more? If you can afford it, get the zoom lense, too. It's money. Also, check Amazon.com. That's where I got my Canon for a good price.

Thanks bro! I'm trying to stay in the middle of cameras. I want great pics but want to get them on "auto" mode cause I'm f-ing lazy!!! Also,I've been watching iso levels and I think that I want at least 1600 if not 3200. I also looked at a Fuji P&S that has has 18x optical zoom and iso 6400 for $300. Man there are alot of choices!!!

If you're still around...this camera is available for $286 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1190678016533 Btw Fuji cameras have a option that takes a pic with flash and then immediately takes a pic without.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com
http://www.17photo.com

Both good places to get good camera gear. 17 Street Photo actually has a shop in Amazon, just FYI. I've dealt w/ both companies and highly recommend them.

I concur. The flower itself is a bit hot.

It was a 2 second lunchtime jobbie. Also I tweaked the levels and did a shitty job.

Here's a couple newer ones from this weekend:

Tulips:

Fuckin' right:

Katherine is hot:

America's most beloved ballpahk:

Couple more flowers:

If there are any bad features to these photos, I'm sure it's not the camera, and it's me. I'm still learning.

Now, pictures like Fenway are more of what we need.
