I learned, via the drunken stupidity of my brother-in-law and one of his friends, that one should not try to stop an apple, shot out of a potato gun, with one's face.

I've also learned that when 2 boys, who are in their mid-40's, go on a hunting trip together, they do STOOPID stuff like play with potato guns while drunk, shoot apples from them because they go faster, hit each other in the face, accidentally, and then the uninjured one gives the injured one a ride on the back of his Harley to the hospital. Yes, while still drunk.

ETA: My bro-in-law is fine AFAIK, other than lacaration to one eyelid, both eyes bruised and swollen and generally jacked up. However, once he heals, his wife will probably damage him worse than that. He would have been better off if the apple had killed him!

I've shot apples out of a potato gun....but we tried to shoot them across the river not at faces.

Today I learned that my wife is incapable of feeding herself without me talking to her about it first. I learned not to listen to Eminem with my windows down if the Group Commander is parked next to me. I learned that I have MMS messaging on my iPhone. I learned that chicks will still come on to me even though I'm old, portly and balding. And I just learned that my barber knows way too much about killing people not to have a practical basis on which to base the conversation.
