I'm sorry, I just don't see the harm in it. It's kinda pointless to argue, though, so here's a pic of a giant robot from a favorite childhood show that would make a lame tattoo. -_-

What exactly is unprofessional about having a tattoo on your arm when millions and millions of people have tattoos?

This is the same bullshit as the school telling my kid he can't have a mohawk because it makes kids mean. Or how people used to look down on guys that wore black leather jackets. We just need to let that superficial bullshit go already.

This is more or less what I was thinking.. I see unprofessional as some jackass taking advantage of his position, some dude Mc'ds or BK mouthing off or spitting in food, shitty customer service etc.; not sporting a tattoo or a new hair style..

It's unprofessional because a rather large segment of the population views it as being unprofessional. In a position like police officer, in which the person has to interface with a very broad range of citizenry, that means it isn't acceptable.

It's nothing like the school telling you that your kid can't have a Mohawk. It's very much like the school telling the TEACHER that he can't have a Mohawk.

Rather it is the same basic, "You're a little different and I'm better than you" mentality that is behind all forms of discrimination.

We judge people on their appearance, every day of our lives. To not admit this is hypocrisy.
