I agree with Kaneman...you call the cops and you are the one who ends up getting the ticket. Not worth it. They are corrupted by power and won't weed out the bad. It makes for a very bad combination.
He was as of a couple years ago, don't know about right now. I'm sure he's still a cop somewhere. The Chief of that dept, btw, was later arrested on two consecutive DWI charges. The city did finally get rid of him after the second one.

If every evil thing a cop did made the news, then we'd realize the scope of the problem and how we're sliding toward a police state mentality. But you only see something every once in a while, so most people think cops are generally good.

Its a seedy underworld though.

A couple other cops witness him hitting the deck as they pull up, they jump out of their cars and tackle me. I totally surrender the second I realize it's the cops but it doesn't stop them from striking me several times with batons and kicking me after I'm cuffed. I'm just lucky they didn't have tasers.

The good news is that the bar has surveillance cameras which recorded the entire thing, there's at least 50 witnesses and a State cop who saw the last 75% of the situation was on my side. I was wearing a bright yellow "SECURITY" t-shirt with the bar's name on it.

The bad news? Cops all rallied and got their lies straight. He claims he identified himself as a cop. No audio on the camera. Charged with assault on a police officer and hindering and opposing. Automatic 2 years in prison. My bail was so high that my friend had to put his house up to get me out of jail. Took 3 days. After over 1 year, tons of legal fees, months of harassment from the GRPD and about 6 court dates, they finally convince me to plea bargain down to creating a disturbance with a $500 fine....

They can do whatever they want! They can charge you with whatever and it'll be up to you to prove that you are innocent...due process my foot!
Totally different situation, your half black.

Just fuckin' around buddy.

And you'd be wrong. Unless you think I deserved to be thrown in jail for the day because someone rear-ended me.

FHP showed up and spoke in Spanish to the guy that hit me. Then came to me and told me he knew the guy indirectly and "he wouldn't run into anybody, so you must've cut him off and slammed on the brakes." The guy said I came from the lane to his right and hit the brakes... but the right side of my car was crushed and the tail light wasn't even cracked on the left.

Physical evidence be damned, I spent the day in jail for assault with a deadly weapon and got to shell out thousands of dollars in attorney fees and had to pay to fix HIS car. Mine was junked.

In short, if you think police corruption doesn't affect people in real life or from TWF (because that's what really counts), you can go pound sand.

And I totally disagree with Kaneman condoning the girl getting away without any reprecutions.

I'm not condoning anything in this situation. By not calling the cops I'm protecting myself and my family if applicable.

Good grief, way too much distrust of police in here. Here's my thoughts: If you're going to let it go, then just let it go. If you wanted to make a point, it's long past the point of being able to do so. If your dog pees on the carpet, do you punish him right away, or wait a couple days? If you aren't going to hang around and call the woman on it right away, then just let it go. If the damage is bad enough to have her insurance company fix it, then you would likely need a police report, but you should have called to get one right away, rather than waiting. If it was small, inexpensive damage, then you needed to confront her immediately and have her pay up.

So when it comes to responsibility the same timeframe should be used for adult humans and puppies? Well, if that doesn't make perfect sense, what does?
