Default Seven Whole Miles

I took my dad’s KLR out on Sunday and went a whole 7 miles.

While I was gearing up, one of the neighbors had some country music playing down the road and all I heard of this song was, “and I feel like Jesse James…” No idea what the rest of the song said, but I had that stuck in my head the whole time I was riding.

I remembered that no matter how much my leg hurts, or how frustrated I am about my accident nothing beats the feeling of getting out on the road just for the hell of it.

To be able to throw my leg over the bike, twist the throttle and answer the question, “where does this road go?” will always be the most liberating feeling in the world.

Then I got chased by a dog.

This was my first dog encounter on the bike and I just had to remember what MSF taught me. Slow down, don’t swerve, don’t kick and as soon as you get next to him, GO! So that’s what I did and it worked.

I need a bike.

Was this your first ride since the accident?

That's awesome though. Even just for 7 miles it must've felt great.

Technically no. I rode the KLR around the block once before.

First ride where I got out of second gear.

Nice... I love the wonder where this road goes mentality especially with a dual sport and a dirt road.
