How's that Tacoma treating you Trip?
I have one now on a 24 hour test drive. 4.0L V6, Pre-Runner/TRD Off-Road, nicely equipped, though it only has a locking diff and not 4WD. Seems to be a nice truck. Bit pricey though.

I love my toyota's... I've had 5... no tacoma's... (the Tacoma name started in 95) but many mini pickups (Hilux's) I currently drive a 92 with 160k on the OD... great trucks IMO. I want a 00-04 next... like the smaller body style |

A Taco will cost about the same as a full size American truck. Compare them at the end of 3 or more years, and the Toyota will be worth significantly more. High upfront cost but low overall cost of ownership.

I have a low end 4 cylinder extended cab, it works great. No issues for me. I didn't need a full size truck and the Taco gets good gas mileage. I picked mine up 1 year used too, so I saved a lot off a new one.
Nothing to complain about at all. I am not a cage person though. I really rather be on my moto or have someone else drive me, so my choice of vehicle is not based on how bad ass I think something is, but on economic and need factors. Yeah, I miss the non almost full size body style. Wish they hadn't gone so big. Kinda ridiculous. |

Yep, mid-sized trucks keep getting bigger. Sometimes my truck is too big... I kinda miss my Ranger... there's a guy at work with a CLEAN early 90's S-10, 4.3L, ext cab, SS wheels... man I love those little trucks.

I wish they would bring back the Toyota Truck. It was awesomeness.

Awesomeness was peeling the TO and TA stickers from the tailgate so you rolled around with a giant "YO" on the back.

Well, I bought it. Pics once it's light out. It's an '07 4.0 V6, Prerunner SR5, extended cab. Only 2WD, but has a rear diff locker. Beautiful dark pearl blue. Plenty of power and a 6.5 ft bed. I got the remainder of the CPO 100,000 mile, 7 year warranty (70,000 and 2 years), plus oil changes, and free state inspections for the life of the vehicle, plus a "wrap-around" warranty that even covers tires and winshield cracks.
I also drove a similarly equipped '07 Dakota, 4WD V6, extended cab. I was unimpressed. Mushy car-like ride and handling. Underwhelming power. Took off work early today, drove the Tacoma 24-hour tester to the Chevy dealer. Tried an '07 Colorado, I5, 4WD, 4dr with a cap. Way too much like a 4-cylinder- felt like driving my mom's '01 Cavalier. Lots of vibrations. Don't know how they all were '07...
