Holy crap!!! Ohio classes range from $40 (own gun, own ammo) to $150 (ass raped) for the class, $8 for photo, and $67 for the license. You have to renew in 5 years but only pay the license fee, whatever it might be up to then.

I have to renew my license Mon, I think it's $30 for five years now in GA. It used to be $20.

Looking at the Springfield XD and the HK P2000, as well. I still need to go in and hold all of the guns I'm thinking about, and really hope the range that rents guns has them all for rental.

My step-dad has a HK USP .40, but it's full size and I prefer to go with compact or sub-compact.

I have an HK USP .45 in full-size. I rarely shoot it but it's one of my favorite guns. Love that thing.

Shot my 1911 Saturday. God I shot like shit.

Regular shooting is the key to good shooting.

Luckily, this town at least has an outdoor range. It's a $40/year membership and you simply get a key to the gate and can go anytime you want.

That's awesome!

We have an indoor range at the armory for all military members and family. Just need one certified person there while shooting.

Went down to Gander Mountain today and held several pistols, including revolvers. The lightest one was an HK USP compact in 9mm. The Glock27 definitely did not feel right with the two-finger grip, but I also held a Glock30 with an extended magazine, which made a lot of difference in how it felt. Really liked the feel of the S&W Tactical and the Springfield XD9 (They didn't have the .40cal, but I imagine it isn't much different). The revolvers were nice and light, but I'm not sure I like the idea of a hammer that can get caught on a shirt, belt, etc. I held everything from .357 up to .45 and all felt natural except the ones with short grips.

It's never bothered me but I've trained myself to cover the hammer with my thumb during my draw so nothing catches. It's good that you're looking the way you are, just keep going until you find something you like. A suggestion is to go to the range and just wait around, people will let you try out their guns usually.
