I had a 92 regular cab version when I lived in Utah. Would probably still have it if I hadn't hit black ice and rolled it.

Yeah, I recognized the stripes. Still wish I had that truck. I'll likely be buying a Tacoma, but I want the four door version now that my daughter is around. Going to be awhile before I save enough for that.

I do to.. but the 4 door in a manual (must for me) only comes in the short 4' bed. so x-cab it is... looking for one at my next base... as I wanna get out of my current debt before I start shop'n around. (my DIY move will pay for the truck)

with the rear locker... you'll be surprised how far you can go off road with a 2wd... I had one in my 4wd Pickup in alaska... and I spend a whole day wheel'n think'n I was in 4wd, but my friend had unturned my hubs as a joke... so I spend the whole day in 2wd in reality... it wasn't crazy hard stuff, but didn't get stuck once.

^ This is true. I took my 2wd open diff 4 banger manual truck with factory street biased tires off road a lot. It is no good for tight, technical, crawling, low speed stuff but if you can carry some speed it does great in the mud.

I'm not so concerned about dirt, but snow. I know first-hand how light in the ass pickups are. My old truck, a '94 Chevy K1500 (4WD) with a 305, would get loose real easy in anything over a few inches- even with sandbags in the bed. That's why I wanted 4WD. The Tacoma has a composite bed, so it's even lighter. And then the Tacoma has a better power-to-weight ratio. 236 HP / 264 ft-lbs out of that 4.0L V6 and 3,910 lbs. Compared to 175 HP / 265 ft-lbs out of that 5.0L V8 and 4,567 lbs.

No snow where I live so I didn't even think about that. Nice truck! I like the pictures, congrats.

Really enjoying my new truck. Was able to turn into my driveway in one turn for the first time ever! The Tacoma has about half the turning radius of the Chevy.

you'll want sand bags in the bed. my old 87 with the rear locker I had to have in 4wd when the pavement was wet because the 35" 13.5x50x15 would spin if I was on a slight hill... LOL course that truck is about 3/4 the weight of the new ones
