I didn't even know the FD offered this service and am not sure they do around here. That's one reason that I would never have considered it. My luck...I'd call the FD and they would show up and break in with an axe and say..."there you go". We don't have the small window paynes either but I do have a few smaller windows that I could break and it still wouldn't be $125 to replace the glass...just a hassle. Having said this...I usually keep a key with me plus we have one hidden in the garage and have the remote pad as well. |

here's another example: I had to make a business trip, so I scheduled a flight........Then the morning of, I missed the flight due to my own incompetence. So I paid the ticket change fee out of my own pocket. Not claim "oh that's just an ordinary business expense, so my employer should pay" |

I'd never think to call. Perhaps because I am an emergency worker and wouldn't even fathom calling the FD for something that wasn't an emergency. Advertised or not, it would never cross my mind.
I've called a lock smith before when my dead bolt wouldn't open and had to be drilled out. I've pulled over a 300 lb picnic table over to our car port and scrambled over a burning Texas "ruff" to jimmy open a second story window. My father would kick my ass if I didn't first break in or call someone qualified. |

Break in like a man. Once you break into your own house, you have a renewed perspective of how easily someone else can get in.
I locked myself out of my Mom's house within the first two weeks of being home in October. I walked outside to get the mail in nothing more then my basketball shorts and bam, I was stuck outside with no phone, keys, shoes, shirt, or wallet to identify myself. And to make things worse I sort of assumed none of her neighbors knew I was her son. I noticed the kitchen window was loose and so I wiggled it while standing on the gas meter next to the house. Right when I thought I had unlocked it, the window fell in and shattered on the kitchen counter. I jump in and fall head first into the sink full of glass and then roll over into the rest of the glass on the floor. Believe it or not the only scratches I got was from where my feet went up and hit the top of window when I fell in. I then called my mom at work to let her know that I had just WTFPWNED her window and I couldn't figure out why my she wasn't mad until she pointed out the fact that she already had a replacement window sitting the basement. By the time Mom got home she had a new window and several less fragile things in the kitchen. (The window and my body broke a ton of her decorations) |

Ed, there is a simple solution to locking yourself out of your house.
It's called a key. They're these little metal things with ridges that open locks. Quite handy. They have holes on one end that fit onto a thing called a "Key Ring". This is a ring that you can keep your keys on, so they don't get lost in your Murse. The thing you have to remember about keys, is that they work best when you have them on the OUTSIDE of the lock. Having them on the inside of the lock, defeats the whole purpose of keys, and thus, should be avoided, and pretty fucking obvious. JC

Break in FTW is my option. WTF is the "fuck it, I'll worry about it later after I get serviced by Tater's Whore of an Ex" option? |
