And yes, rivet >> clip (clips can be made 'safer' by using a dab of silicone adhesive over it - but a rivet link is a sure thing).

Your front sprocket is just starting to wear. Replace both sprockets and ( obviously ) a new chain.

Check out ebay, you just might find a killer deal. I got a brand new factory chain for my '93 ZR1100 for $100 off ebay. It lists for over $300

Since I got the killer deal on the chain, I didn't bother with a chain breaker. I just removed the swingarm ( and the shocks, tire, chain guard, both pipes ) to put it on. Didn't really take that long either.

EBay of course! Let me check for you. There's a guy that I've gotten my last three chains from very cheap and he is very reputable!!! I'll see if he has a 520 and your sprockets!

Okay, I know you have a ZX7, I don 't know the year...

I know the front is a 520-16...what's the rear? I'm guessing 40-42... BTW my guy doesn't have any but there are a ton on EBAY! I saw a chain and rear sprocket for $32 BIN.... You shouldn't have any problems finding a deal but if you need help, I'll be glad to assist you!!! On your sprocket, it should say how many teeth are involved.
