Finished my trailer today. I bought a 4x8 at TSC without a floor, bought treated 4x6 at Home Depot and mounted my wheel chocks. I went with a forward/backward thing to balance it out. Tongue weight is 125 loaded so not too bad. I pulled it around town in heavy traffic and it did well. I am cautiously optimistic.

Um... One second...
Okay, I'm back, Carry-On Trailer co. I got TSC to honor a HF 20% coupon on top of a sale they were having which has me down $340 for the whole thing including deck, screws, etc. All told, I'm into this for about $550 including the hitch, the ramps, the chocks, etc. Not too bad considering I was dropping about $2-300 every time we wanted to go on a trip and having to plan it out around the rental, weather, etc. Now we can load and go whenever we want! |

I got my 5x8 trailer at Lowes for $500 OTD. had an expanded metal floor and ramp with bracing. I didn't like the stability of just the expanded metal so I bolted some OSB that I had to the floor of the trailer, left the ramp alone. Works very well for my needs.

I think it looks like a clean install
I had one on my early 90's Grand Prix that would tow a 16' ski boat very well for the same reason: I didn't want/need a truck. I am planning on installing one on the Subaru to tow the sled to places where there is actually snow (grumble). |

Clean install, serves a purpose while being hidden well when not in use. Well done.

So you can get two sportbikes on a 7' wide trailer with no problem ? I need a trailer but planned to get at least a 5' x 8' if I decided to go with an open trailer. *edit* Well I read the first page and posted before seeing the pics on this page. Ok yes I guess they fit. Last edited by z06boy; 02-14-2011 at 10:37 AM.. |
