Yeah I have one of those for locking up my snowboard to the ski/board racks. They work pretty well. Easily snipped, but better than nothing.

Anything that makes it a little harder is normally enough to make them look for something easier.

Pretty much what I was thinking. This would be just for short periods of time while still parking in a high visibility area in front of a restaurant etc...

Of course it only takes a milli-second to take the whole bike so it's just a question of if you're willing to chance it or not.

ive used the cable both to tie down my gear but also the bikes themselves. If someone has a backpack and carries a bit longer cable, you can run it through the jackets, helmets and front tires...or just front tires when leaving in the truck for the night with it secured to some part of the vehicle as well...
