And the plot thickens...

The legal group from State Farm contacted me today to let me know they are sending me a letter notifying me of the attorney they are assigning to my case. I'm sure glad they are handling all of this for me!

Apparently, as it turns out, the girl did hire the lawyer to try and shake me/State Farm down for more payout back when the accident happened. The lawyer sent a Demand for Payment letter to State Farm (she wasn't sure of the amount they demanded, as she had *just* gotten my file). She did say that State Farm sent them a counter offer, which was not accepted or responded to at that time.

Not sure where that leaves things, but there it is. Yay me.

Sucks to hear mang!! People get bumped and think they won the lottery. Unfortunately the tort system here is such that THEY HAVE. What will probably happen is they'll get offered some amount that will cost less than it would cost to fight a suit.

I'm getting sued too, and I'm also with State Farm, so I'd like to hear what happens here. I bumped someone doing about 7. He took down my info, then rubbed his neck and laughed about it. His bumper was slightly scratched, I offered to pay him to get it painted but judging by the speed of things I think he went to a law office directly from the accident scene. I bent the fan clutch in on my POS car and couldn't leave afterwards, but of course he didn't offer me so much as a ride to a service station.

I've never sued anyone or been sued...hope it stays that way.

Good luck with this case. I'm also with State Farm so I am interested in the outcome.

Bumpity Bump.

Fast forward almost a year, and after a bunch of legal wrangling and offers/counteroffers to no resolution, I'm going to court downtown this morning for a freaking jury trial to settle this.

The good: After this is over, it will be done.

The bad: I have to sit in court for today, maybe a little of tomorrow, and hope that my *peers* are as smart as me.

I've never been involved in a jury trial or a lawsuit of any kind, so this will be interesting.

Wear something pretty, and blame it on the baby sitter.
