When you have a 7 figure salary you don't a buy Yamaha R6.

Some do, some don't. Keep in mind we are talking about professional athletes here, often times not the brightest in the bunch. The scenario I see is athlete driving by a bike shop and deciding "I want one of them Ninjas", walking in to the shop and saying "I wanna go fast", sales guy saying "Get an R6", athlete writes check. When running back Michael Pittman (well over $10 million for his career) was in Tampa he rode a TLR. It was all blinged and stretched, but he didn't get a Ducati, Bimota, West Coast Chopper, or some other super expensive bike.

Luc Bourdon was a high level rookie who died on a Gixxer, some dumb ass baseball player or football player died or got hurt on a busa. They don't all buy ducati's and Mv's.

I'm not arguing the point too much, but to say there's no way Sergei Federov would buy an R6, when the bike in 99 was THE bike to have, is a bit much. In 99, the r1 and r6 were king of the hill and maybe he was smart enough to not start on a 1000?

I agree with that but still I find it highly unlikely. I'd have to see a title with his name on it before I'd believe.

He would have saved the bill of sale or something if he was really proud of the fact that Fedorov owned it.

Look at knuckleheads like rothlesburger and kellen winslow jr, thye just bought hte latest/greatest crotchrockets. Some of the guys who truly are into the bikes will buy the high end stuff. An upstate aprilia/ducati dealer sold several bikes to bernie williams when he was playing in NY. I had also heard other athletes had bought high end bikes but they werent about to start name dropping

I think Catherine Bell rides an R6 as well. There isn't that big of a price difference between a Yamaha and say a run of the mill ducati, aprilia, mv augusta. Just a few thousand dollars which is a small difference when you think about the difference in price points in cars.
