Not really a factor, because the torque converter doesn't stop slipping until it hits stall speed RPM, thus it presents no real torque to any driveline components.

Of course, if you stomp the gas pedal too, it will flash the converter, and drop like a hammer. That'll break shit.

But if a vehicle is backing up and you suddenly ask it to move forward, how is that not applying torque to it? Yes, the torque converter is slipping, but it still "sends" a lot of force to the rest of the driveline.

But due to the TC slippage, not really a significant amount...not even as much as a good normal passing gear drop.
