Default Thinking of buying a FZR

Found a 1991 Yamaha FZR600 for $500.
Needs an ignition and apparently the clutches replaced?

This one is said to actually run and has a clear Ohio title.

Not sure about it yet though, So for the price and if the valves aren't fucked up, would it be a....?smart? investment if just to ride it for one season?

Gonna take till like mid December for me to get the money so I ask they guy if he could hold on to it till then

Only pic i have *yeah, I got emailed a picture of a picture on a computer monitor* yes it does have a little damage on the right side, Left side....I dunno

I don't know what a clutch costs for that bike but it can't be more than $200.

You can rewire the ignition for free or next to it.

If the bike runs, that is a much better deal than the ZX6 you have. Plus, less people have to worry about parts coming up missing.

Go over it with a fine toothed comb either way.

Looks like a good deal... even if you have to dump an eBay engine and various electronics into it, you should still come out ahead...

Look at it hard, note anything that looks shitty, find out why he's selling it, then use all that to derf him down to $350-400... I'd start at $300...

He's selling it to pay his dad back for the other bike he just bought....or so he says. just a guess at the way his text/emails look I'm guessing not much older then I am.

It will be December 9th-16th before I can go look at it (gonna have the cash to buy it so I don't have to waste 200miles in gas twice.)

I am just looking at this as a investment towards another *road ready* ZX6
Figure I could get it now, over the winter fix it up and make it real nice ride it over the summer and then try to sell it for probably $1,000(since local prices right now are 1,200-1,800)

FZRs are good bikes.......lots of parts & support.......Electrics are questionable though......If the regulator/rectifier hasn't been replaced recently, it will need to be..........And maybe the coils......and maybe the stator.........
