You have the freedom to say what you wish, within reason. You also have the freedom to pay the piper when the bill comes due. If you take part in a passtime that has a code of conduct attached to it and are dumb enough to shout to the four winds that you've broken said code, you then have little right to cry about it.

If you don't want to be "punished", then don't make a public admission of guilt.
