Talking Picked Up My New Rig!!!!

Brought it home at like 2am and spent the day getting insurance, a tag, and starting to clean it up. Pics tomorrow. This is now what I will take to Alaska and live out of for most of my 6 week trip.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...pe=b&make=FORD

Actually has 260k on the clock but the transmission was replaced by a Ford dealership at 230K miles about 3 years ago. Also had new alternator, water pump and front brakes installed right before he put it up for sale.

http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/Pric...uizConditions=

The best part: is that it is valued at just over 14K on KBB and trust me when I say it isn't quite the buyers market for these trucks. People still want them and people will die before letting go of them. I can't count the number of times I found one I liked and it was gone the next day, or I called the same day of a new listing and it had a deposit on it. Not to mention anything at this price was always a piece of crap.

I had given up on wanting the crew cab, the leather, and the long bed since my pickyness was killing my options and I was trying to bring my budget down. By some stroke of luck I found this one within 60 miles of me and within hours I was at the owners house driving it. Despite its mileage, it is light years ahead of most of the 140-180k trucks I drove. Everything is functional and the leather is mint except for the common wear on the edge of the driver's seat but the owner's wife sewed it up so I don't mind.

Sorry for lack of better pics, I just had to share this with someone.

7.3L diesel... he's got at least another 100K on it, as long as it was maintained proper. will probalby have to change injectors and glow plugs, but no biggy there.
At least the tranny is somewhat new. that was the weakest link in that pickup!

Nice truck.

3/4 ton diesels are going dirt cheap leftover here. Brand new 07's, 32k, CDN. Which is what you would have paid for one with 200k miles 2 years ago.

I totally agree on the engine being good for another 100k,make sure you change the fluid in the trans-axle and the differentials and have them inspected. Of course along with wheel bearings,U-joints,fuel filter, etc. before you take it too far! Just because an old couple owned it doesn't mean it was never abused/neglected. With that kind of mileage,I'd change the coolant and transmission fluid too. Oh and HERE'S a good time to use that Shell Rotella synthetic oil...

Hey,you're working in a restaurant right? Get yourself a bio-diesel kit,get the old grease from work and make your own fuel! My ex's dad has made his own for years,he even heats his house with it. Good luck with the truck!

There were many of these trucks for sale with 350K+ mileage and sadly people were asking over 10g for them and that was private. The trucks can get well over 300K on the engine but most of that will rely on my intended uses and how it was treated for the past 260k. The guy that has owned it for the last couple years took great care of it and it sounds like the guy before did the same thing.

It has been on construction sites for most of its life so the paint could use a wax job and it does have a couple dings but I have seen much worse cars with this kind of mileage.

Thats what made me careless about the high mileage. I really wanted a 100-150k truck but this was too good to pass up.

You asshat! I just got home from taking my mom out to breakfast in it before she was off to work. We tested out the drive through and while I aced the driving test, I can't hear a fucking thing anyone is saying to me.

That should get a ton worse with intake and exhaust.

Waiting for it to warm up a bit and then I am going to finish cleaning it and take millions of pics.
